I'm a Senior Engineer who's spent the last few years working at the intersection of security, distributed systems, and "please don't page me at 3am again." Currently at AWS in London, working on AuthN/AuthZ Security Services, previously building cyber security tools at Roke.

My day-to-day is a mix of designing secure infrastructure, automating away operational pain, and trying to make sure nothing leaks, breaks, or catches fire. I care a lot about operational excellence — eliminating toil, building good observability, and making systems that don't need babysitting.

Before AWS, I was at Roke in the Cyber Security and Networks department, where everything had a security-first focus. I also ran weekly Cyber Clubs where engineers at all levels would get together to hack boxes, discuss new vulnerabilities, and generally nerd out about security.

I studied Computer Science at the University of Southampton (First Class Honours), where the obsession with systems and security properly took hold in-between long sessions of League of Legends.

Outside of work, I keep up with security podcasts (Darknet Diaries, Risky Business), tinker with personal projects, and obsessively automate away everything I can to make the most of the limited time we have in each day — and to still have a work-life balance.

I believe in owning problems end-to-end, moving fast on reversible decisions, and writing code that the on-call engineer at 3am (me) won't curse you for. I'm a bit of an AI-convert — my security-first background means LLMs and agents set my spidey-sense on edge, but I'm fundamentally sure they're here to stay. I'm integrating them where appropriate and thinking seriously about how to leverage the productivity benefits without forgetting how to code, building horrible bloated unobservable systems, or automating myself out of a job. AI won't replace us any time soon, but value generation will move up the stack from rote, automatable, surface-level work — so I'm doing my best to stay relevant.
